We have about 120 members and provide an
opportunity within the community for amateur singers to become familiar with the works of the great composers. We
aim to encourage people of all ages to work together in a friendly
atmosphere to prepare music for a high standard of public performance under the direction
of a professional conductor with professional soloists and orchestra.
Since the 1940s, our normal
concert venue has been the fine Parish Church of St John in
Cirencester’s Market Place. At present though, due to planned
refurbishments in the Church, the facilities provided by Bingham Hall,
King Street enable us to continue to offer Cirencester and district
the only regular performances of large scale classical music locally.
We feel that gatherings of over 400, performers and audience, to enjoy
good music make a real contribution to the cultural life of the
community.
Our Season consists of two terms, September to December and
January to May, each ending with a concert performance. We have also
recently included a Christmas Celebration in December 2007 and a
Choral Workshop in February 2008. Rehearsals take place in St Peter’s
Hall, St Peter’s Road on Tuesdays from 7.30 – 9.30pm.
